The Library shall provide space for resource sharing and networking at national,  regional and international level. It services include: traditional reference services, reading service, research, consultancy, and library literacy.

Therefore. the main role of MNF Library is to preserve the historical record of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere’s work and his political life. This collection will cover Mwalimu Nyerere’s contribution to humanity, as a national leader, an African liberation stalwart, an architect of African unity, an international statesman, and a staunch advocate for the Non Aligned Movement and South South Cooperation.

To that end the library has the ultimate responsibility to collect, restore and organize all documents, in  the form of archives, speeches, books, pamphlets or articles that were published by Mwalimu Nyerere himself, and about Mwalimu Nyerere from all over the world.
